Authors note: When writing this poem I was listening to "not afraid" by Eminem. The thought of someone standing strong during danger inspired me. The process that I used while writing this was created by Ashton Keene. What happens is you pick three numbers ranging from one to ten, you place those numbers in a line. Then you pick one number above ten and place it in the line twice. The numbers represent how many syllables are in the line. After you are done writing the two sets, you repeat the process. In the end something like a poem should turn out. This piece was something that I will be using as a starting block to work off of in the future of poetry.
The glass shatters,
sending shards,
The screams send
mayhem and terror through all,
The fleas and cries
from everywhere send him a message,
Why do you abandon
us, leave us to die alone .
Where were you when
we needed you, did you not hear our cries?
We depend on you to
save,
To protect us from
danger and harm,
Our only hero, left
us to die,
Must we fight on our own? Are we left to
defend ourselves? Out of the shadows, the hero will prevail, saving all.
